While every NFL team passed on former Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders multiple times in the 2025 draft, one team remained determined to select him.
That was the Baltimore Ravens.
Before the Ravens-Browns game, a leak showed Baltimore planned to draft Shedeur in later rounds. He rejected the deal to pursue a starting role elsewhere, drawing social media criticism.
New head coach Todd Monkin essentially confirmed this rumor during his meeting with Shedeur.

Monken served as Baltimore’s offensive coordinator for the past three seasons, with his first year being particularly notable for Lamar Jackson’s MVP-winning season.
Like everyone, he knew playing time behind Lamar Jackson would be scarce. But with Lamar injured most of the season, the Ravens could have utilized Shedeur's talents.
The connection grew into more of a storyline later in the seasonwhen Shedeur and the Browns beat Pittsburgh, creating a win-and-in scenario between the Ravens and Steelers in the season finale.
Shedeur replaced the concussed Dillon Gabriel in week 10's loss to the Ravens. Sanders completed just 4-of-16 passes for 47 yards with one interception and two sacks.
In his first NFL start against Las Vegas, he rebounded with 11-of-20 passing for 209 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in a 24-10 victory.
Shedeur finished the season 3-4 as the Browns' starter, throwing for 1,400 yards with 8 total touchdowns (7 passing, 1 rushing) and 10 interceptions on 56.6% completion.
