Shedeur Sanders isn’t throwing at the NFL Combine? Good. He doesn’t need to.
Colorado’s star quarterback and potential top pick is taking the smart route in Indianapolis—skipping the on-field throwing drills and instead focusing on what really matters: impressing NFL teams in interviews.
And let’s be honest, he doesn’t need to prove he can throw a football. His four years of tape already did that.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Sanders will let his game film “speak loudly” while he focuses on meetings with teams. Then, when it’s time to sling the rock, he’ll do it at Colorado’s Pro Day, throwing to four draftable Buffs receivers in a setting he controls.
#Colorado QB and potential top pick Shedeur Sanders plans to focus on his interviews with teams at the NFL Scouting Combine, helping them continue to learn him as a person.

It’s a move straight out of the playbook of past top QB prospects. Bryce Young, Joe Burrow, and even Kyler Murray all skipped Combine throwing drills in favor of Pro Day performances. Why? Because the Combine isn’t about proving you can hit an open receiver in shorts—it’s about wowing teams with your football IQ, leadership, and presence.
And Shedeur? He checks every box.
NFL teams already love his poise, intelligence, and ability to lead. Cris Carter praised these traits this week. Shedeur has dealt with a battered offensive line, taken a record-breaking number of sacks, and still put up big numbers with elite accuracy and decision-making. He doesn’t need to risk bad timing with unfamiliar receivers at the Combine when he can light it up with his own guys back in Boulder.
Make no mistake—Sanders is making a statement. He knows he belongs at the top of this draft class, and he’s playing this process exactly the way a future franchise QB should.
