Shedeur Sanders joked during the postgame press conference following Colorado football's 52-0 blowout win over Oklahoma State that he'd be donating to the Buffs' NIL collective next season to help build a "superteam" in Boulder.
"Shedeur says he’s going to donate to Colorado’s NIL collective next season to make sure the Buffs have a 'super team,'" DNVR's Scott Procter tweeted with a laughing-face emoji.
Maybe Shedeur was just blowing smoke. But mentioning that in any way shape or form hints that alumni could find ways to donate to their schools. Dave Portnoy was found to have had a hand in Bryce Underwood landing with his alma mater, Michigan. Why wouldn't Shedeur want to help fund his father's team in the future? Just imagine for a second he gets drafted to the Las Vegas Raiders and minority owner Tom Brady decides to match his donation.
Now it's not crazy to imagine a super team in Boulder next season and in future seasons Coach Prime is leading the charge.
Shedeur Sanders' comments show Deion Sanders is staying with Colorado football
If there's anyone who can get his sons to donate to his program's NIL collective, it's Deion Sanders. Coach Prime must have mentioned this before for Shedeur to have mentioned it, even as a joke, during a press conference.
And if Coach Prime is talking about it, then it's clear as day that he'll be staying with CU in 2025 and, presumably, beyond.
2024 was nearly perfect for a program that very few had winning nine games, but pay-to-play NIL being approved as the widespread accepted form of NIL would be perfect timing for Shedeur and other soon-to-be-Buffs alums with strong ties to Colorado's coach.
