Tad Boyle's postgame comments rubbed Colorado State fans the wrong way

After suffering a tight loss on the road against a very good Colorado State team, Tad Boyle said a few things that irked the Rams' fanbase.

Despite a hard-fought and closely contested game, Colorado lost to a really good Colorado State team Saturday afternoon. When these two play well, as they did Saturday, Colorado basketball fans enjoy watching them.

It resulted in a sold out Moby Arena.

In the aftermath of the game, Colorado's head coach Tad Boyle was asked about his defense strategy and what he would have done differently.

Time will tell," Boyle said, via 247. "We'll figure it out. But I'm not going to change what we do. I'm not going to change the standards of this program. Our standard is six or fewer made 3 for a game. For a game. They had 10 first half and eight in the second half...I don't know what to say. Credit goes to CSU. They played their butts off. This was their Super Bowl. We knew it was going to be like this. And what was frustrating to me is we came back and took control of the game."

Colorado State fans incensed by 'Super Bowl' comment by Tad Boyle

I don't want to be the one to break the bad news here, but this goes for both teams. In a sport where it's hard to advance deep into March as it is, these are the kinds of games that fans cherish and hold on to the most. All you have to do is go on a deep dive on X (formerly Twitter) and go under any Colorado or Colorado State account regarding Saturday's game.

This is especially true when it's a rivalry as rich as Colorado vs. Colorado State.

Tad probably could've used better words instead of implying this was Colorado State's most important game of the year, but that's human nature. It was a reaction in the moment from a frustrated head coach who saw his young team give up a lead late.

Considering the play and postgame flair of Saturday's game, we can't help but look forward to the future meetings between these two schools.
