“It’s a normal day for me. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a father coming to see his son. Like all of us would be doing.”
That was the simple, genuine reaction from Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles after spotting Coach Prime at the Bucs’ first full training camp practice on Wednesday.
No spectacle, just a father watching his boy try to make an NFL roster.

Coach Prime hasn’t been seen much in weeks, aside from the brief Big 12 Media Day appearance and the occasional update on YouTube. Rumors have swirled and concerns continue to grow.
So seeing Coach Prime laughing on the sideline, decked out in CU gear under the Tampa sun—it was comforting.
A Return that Buffs fans needed
Prime’s absence from Boulder this summer was noticeable. High school recruiting struggled and the excitement around the program has cooled off. With fall camp around the corner, fans started asking the question:
Is Coach Prime going to be ready?
Today, he gave us a good answer.
Coach Prime made the trip to Tampa to support Shilo Sanders trying to earn a roster spot with the Bucs as an undrafted rookie safety. That in itself isn’t newsworthy. What is newsworthy is that Prime stood on that field like a man ready to get back to work.

Just a Dad
Coach Bowles was right—it was a dad visiting his son. But when that dad is a Hall of Famer, and the current head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, every moment is going to carry weight.
Especially when we know how much Prime loves being on the field.
He was locked in during drills, and according to reports, at one point, you wouldn’t be surprised if he started coaching up Tampa’s defensive backs himself. It was classic Prime energy.
It was exactly what we wanted to see.
Back in Coach shape?
Prime has been recovering from ongoing health complications—ones that have kept him mostly homebound at his ranch in Texas. But now, he’s back in the heat and back around the game.
CU opens training camp this Monday, July 28. That means we should see Prime back in Boulder any day now. If Wednesday was any indication, he’s ready for it.
And with Shedeur and Travis Hunter now in the NFL, this next chapter in Boulder is going to be so damn exciting.
