Travis Hunter, especially post-Heisman win, has widely been considered one of the best players to touch the football field in a long time- even the Titans' president thinks so. Despite all of this, Mel Kiper, Jr. isn't so sure he'll go number one in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Titans’ president of football operations, Chad Brinker, hinted Wednesday that the Titans will take Travis Hunter with the first overall pick in the draft.

“We won’t pass on a generational talent with the first pick in the NFL draft,” Brinker says.

Despite this praise, Mel Kiper Jr. isn’t so sure Hunter will occupy the first pick. After the Titans draft Cam Ward with the first pick, “Then you go to pick number 2,” Kiper said.

“This is where, again, these two quarterbacks getting forced up just a bit. Who’s the best player in this draft? That’s Travis Hunter from Colorado. Be it wide receiver, corner, Cleveland needs a dynamic presence at that wide receiver spot. Sprinkle him in at corner. They go Travis Hunter, best player in the draft, over the quarterback Shedeur Sanders.”

Interestingly, Kiper projects Hunter at the second spot, despite describing him as the best player in the draft. Admittedly, teams need more than just talent at positions they already have, and the Titans desperately need a QB, but passing on a “generational talent” would be a decision that could bite them quickly if they’re unlucky.

If they do, they better hope they get their QB of the future.
