I was pretty sure that because of Tom Brady's relationship with Shedeur Sanders, the Las Vegas Raiders would draft him. I was most surprised that they didn't.
On the Impaulsive podcast with Logan Paul, Tom Brady mentioned that after watching Shedeur Sanders fall all the way to pick No. 144 in the 2025 NFL Draft, he texted the former Colorado Buffaloes QB.
“Wherever you go, that’s your first day,” Brady said. “Day 2 matters more than the draft.”
And look, if there’s anyone qualified to say that, it’s TB12 himself. The man went from 199th overall, and I couldn't help but see the parallels that are in their relationship. Honestly, Shedeur should be excited to be in the same position that Tom was in.
He reminded Shedeur (and the rest of us) that greatness isn’t handed out on draft night—it’s earned in the building.
"Use it as motivation. You’re going to get your chances. Go take advantage of it,” Brady said.
There was much buzz about the Raiders taking Shedeur, especially with Brady part-owning the franchise. But the Raiders passed on him seven times. As a Broncos fan, I was relieved, but it was shocking. Instead, they drafted two QBs in the sixth round—including one they plan to turn into a receiver.
Brady did, however, shut the talk down that he had a part in who Las Vegas selected. “I wasn’t a part of any evaluation process,” he said bluntly. And he threw shade at Skip Bayless for saying otherwise: “That’s the problem with media… everyone can just say whatever the f— they want.”
Classic Brady. Now, Shedeur’s headed to Cleveland, wearing the same No. 12. Coincidence? Probably not.
To us, it feels like a passing of the torch. From one overlooked, doubted, disrespected quarterback… to another.
And if Shedeur follows Brady’s path? A whole lot of people are going to regret passing on No. 12 again.
