Travis Hunter left the K-State game on October 12 in the second quarter after 23 snaps, 21 of them on the defensive end, due to a shoulder injury. As On SI's Jason Jones relayed, Hunter appeared to be in discomfort when lifting his shoulder while being checked by the medical staff.

"Hunter, who was receiving attention from Colorado’s athletic training staff on the sideline, appeared in discomfort as they evaluated his shoulder," Jones prefaced before saying, "After a brief assessment on the field, he was escorted to the locker room for further evaluation, leaving Colorado fans holding their breath. His presence on the field has been a game-changer for the Buffaloes throughout the season, making his exit a significant moment in the contest."

Hunter was given a questionable designation at the start of the second half but returned to the sidelines moments later.

Who is Travis Hunter's backup?

Colton Hood stepped in for Hunter in the secondary after No. 12 left for the locker room. Hood, a formerly from Auburn, was expected to be a key piece in the Tigers' defense under DJ Durkin and former Buffs defensive coordinator Charles Kelly. He's no Hunter, but Hood is a high-level backup.

As for Hunter's offensive responsibilities, Terrell Timmons Jr. and Isaiah Hardge are behind Hunter at the Z position on the Buffs' depth chart. LaJohntay Wester and Will Sheppard could all be beneficiaries of more targets if Hunter is out for long.

Jimmy Horn Jr. also left the field in the first half with an injury.
