The NFL offseason is often a blur of film sessions, playbook installs, and tightly controlled workouts. But for Travis Hunter and the Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver room, it also included something less structured — and potentially more telling.
A recently surfaced video from a player-led workout in the Bahamas captured Hunter, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, connecting with quarterback Trevor Lawrence in a moment that quickly went viral. The two broke out a choreographed handshake — part dap-up, part synchronized swim move — that culminated in shoulder bumps and laughter.

It was lighthearted, sure. But in NFL locker rooms, these kinds of unscripted moments tend to say a lot. For a rookie still weeks away from his first official training camp, Travis Hunter is already earning trust.
Off-field chemistry, on-field potential
The video was posted by Jaguars wide receiver Dyami Brown and showed Hunter not only interacting with Lawrence, but also spending time training and bonding with fellow wideouts Brian Thomas Jr. and Cam Camper.
One clip shows Hunter joking behind the camera. Another shows him running precise routes in a sand workout. There’s a joy to it that teammates notice and respond to.
That energy was a defining part of Hunter’s identity at Colorado, where he emerged as college football’s most electric and versatile player. In Boulder, he was known not just for highlight-reel plays on both sides of the ball, but for the way he engaged fan, and embraced the spotlight that came with playing under Deion Sanders.
Boulder isn’t Jacksonville. But some things translate. And right now, Hunter’s charisma and work ethic are translating fast.
Trevor Lawrence is already impressed
During Jaguars OTAs earlier this summer, Lawrence praised Hunter’s explosiveness and stamina.
“He’s got a lot of juice,” Lawrence said. “He’s very explosive. Ball skills, run after the catch. In and out of cuts — he’s impressive to watch.”
Those comments came before the Bahamas trip, but the footage adds another layer: this is Lawrence buying into a partnership. The two looked relaxed and confident, as if they’ve already spent more time together than the calendar says they have.
It’s a promising development for a Jaguars offense that ranked in the bottom third of the league in passing last season and is actively seeking new chemistry and production. With Hunter expected to start primarily at wide receiver while slowly working in defensive snaps, building timing with Lawrence is key.
A new chapter, same spark
What makes the Bahamas video so compelling isn’t just the handshake. It’s how comfortable Hunter already looks in a room of NFL veterans. He’s loose. He’s engaged. And he’s respected.
These are the kinds of early returns front offices hope for when drafting high-character players. Hunter’s presence is clearly being felt already as a tone-setter.
Linebacker Joshua Hines-Allen recently spoke about Hunter’s versatility on The Rich Eisen Show, calling him a “playmaker on both sides of the ball” and praising his football IQ.
But in Jacksonville, Hunter’s immediate value might be even more simple: his ability to connect.

What it means for the Jaguars
The NFL season hasn’t started, but Hunter is already influencing the Jaguars locker room culture. And while it’s far too early to project his ceiling, the signs are hard to ignore.
This is something we already knew — that he’s not just talented, he’s magnetic. The same leadership qualities that helped define his time in Boulder are now beginning to emerge on a new stage.
And if the handshake with Lawrence is any indication, the connection between them might not just be for show.
It could be the beginning of something very special in Jacksonville.
