Legendary Denver Broncos QB John Elway believes Travis Hunter could achieve whatever he's looking for in the NFL. That includes playing on both sides of the ball just as he's done at Colorado and Jackson State before that.
"When you look at his athletic ability and what he's done, and he's still a young guy. So I think he's going to continue to get better," Elway said (h/t On SI). "He's got the tools to play. He's a great corner as well as a great wideout. I don't think there's any question you get your best athletes on the field... There's no question, I would entertain him going both ways, and obviously, he's proven he can do that."
ESPN's Matt Miller once questioned whether Hunter should pursue playing the cornerback position at the next level.
"(WR's) where Hunter's speed and electric ability with the ball in his hands is best utilized, whereas at cornerback he would need to focus on technique more and rely less on winning with speed," Miller said.
With the Heisman more than likely wrapped up -- the odds are so heavily in Hunter's favor that betting on him would yield minimal returns -- Hunter is set to become a more-than-likely No. 1 overall pick, barring the No. 1 pick being in the hands of a QB-starved franchise.
As a WR, he'd be worth the pick. As a CB, he'd be worth the pick.
Hunter's rare pedigree will make the NFL GM that drafts him a genius no matter who it is. His potential won't be given up on for years if he struggles. Picturing him struggling after what we saw in 2024 is admittedly difficult.
