Travis Hunter shared the only update he'd ever give on Deion Sanders' future with the Colorado football program: he's staying. Coach Prime's success on national signing day should've made that obvious, but Hunter reaffirmed that the night before the Heisman Trophy Presentation in New York City.
“I got a lot of insight. He ain’t going nowhere. He’s going to be right where he's at right now,” Hunter said (h/t Yahoo Sports).
For Hunter and the Buffs, next year isn't on their minds. The Alamo Bowl against BYU is what they're focused on. He and his teammates want to give Coach Prime one last memorable showing at CU.
“It's definitely important because, you know, I started this thing with Coach Prime and Shedeur and most of the coaches on the coaching staff, so I want to finish it off right,” Hunter said. "I didn't give them a full season my first year (because of injury), so I'm going to go ahead and end this thing off right. It's going to be our last game together, so I'm going to go out there and dominate and show the loyalty that I have for him.
“Definitely looking forward to it. I'm just excited to go out there and play football one more time before the offseason.”
Coach Prime has admitted he'll be emotional during the Alamo Bowl.
“This is gonna be our last game,” Sanders said on an Alamo Bowl announcement event, per USA Today. “And you talk about monumental. You talking about something we started in the youth league and guess what? It started right here in Texas.
“It’s gonna be tough for me. I’m telling you that right now. You’re making me think about the end. I don’t want to think about the end."
Deion will be emotional that it's the end of coaching Shedeur, Travis, and Shilo. He'll still have at least one more bowl game in him at Colorado.
