When Travis Hunter walks the red carpet at the 2025 NFL Draft, he'll do so with more than just the eyes of scouts and fans on him. For the first time in years, his father will be by his side for the biggest moment of his life.
A Florida judge recently granted Travis Hunter Sr. permission to travel to Green Bay despite being under court supervision. The decision allows him to attend the draft ceremony at Lambeau Field, where his son is expected to be one of the first names off the board—possibly to the Cleveland Browns at No. 2 overall.
Hunter Sr., who was convicted in 2023 on drug and firearm charges, was released from jail just days before his son accepted the Heisman Trophy in December. He missed that ceremony, but not this one. The court ruling includes restrictions, allowing him only at his hotel and the draft venue under electronic monitoring.
While the story is filled with legal details and court restrictions, it’s ultimately one about redemption and family. Hunter’s Heisman speech hinted at what Thursday night will finally bring full circle: “I got you,” he told his dad back then.
Now, he does.
