Travis Hunter shared a controversial take on his YouTube show, "The Travis Hunter Show," responding to the end of Colorado football's Week 7 loss to K-State at home.

Hunter outright blamed the refs for the Buffs' final fourth-down play with a minute left to go where Shedeur Sanders' downfield bomb to Will Sheppard was physically defended but no DPI was called.

"The last play was controversial. I don't know what happened," Hunter said. "The ref, they pulled a flag on us on their touchdown and they did the same thing to us. At the end of the day, we can't beat the ref and play football. We can't leave it up in the refs' hands. That's our fault. We just got to take that one on the chin."

There's been some interesting character development from Hunter in 2024. Not everyone would approve, but he's been more outspoken in defense of himself and his teammates.

Travis Hunter called out Ashton Jeanty for being overhyped

Hunter took aim at Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty for being "just a good running back" and not a deserving heavy Heisman favorite -- and claimed he'd have similar numbers if he had similar usage with the Buffs that Jeanty has with the Broncos.

“I know I can win it, but I don’t know who’s there,” Hunter told RGIII and his wife Grete onthe "Outta Pocket with RGIII" podcast. “I mean y’all see Ashton Jeanty, it’s not like we haven’t seen a running back that’s good. We haven’t seen a player that plays both ways and I’m gonna keep saying that.

“He has, I think, 95 carries for 1,000 yards. If I had 95 catches, how much yards you think I’d have? If I had 95 targets on defense what you think I’d have? If I had 95 catches on offense, what do you think I’d have?”

Hunter isn't humble anymore. He's been playing dominantly enough to understand it from an outsider's point of view, but it's been a stark change in demeanor this year.
