Who is Colorado playing today? Previewing Buffs' regular season finale
After a demoralizing loss to Kansas in Week 13, the Colorado Buffaloes don’t have control of their destiny for the Big 12 Conference title game.
There is still a path to the title game, but the Buffs can only make it legitimate if they can beat the winless-in-the-conference Oklahoma State Cowboys in the final home game of the 2024 regular season.
A path to the Big 12 championship game is still attainable for Colorado
Following the loss to the Jayhawks, the Buffs are in a four-way tie for the top spot in the Big 12 Conference.
At least, the Buffs need to win and combine losses from BYU, Iowa State, and Arizona State to get a berth in next week’s game in Dallas.
Travis Hunter snubbed for a major award, but still nominated for others
Controversy ensued earlier this week as utility ace Travis Hunter received several annual collegiate nominations but was snubbed on the prestigious Jim Thorpe Award nomination.
Coach Prime remarked on the nomination snub during the weekly presser.
Expect Hunter to be among the Heisman finalists. The announcement is scheduled for December 9, and the award show on ESPN will be on December 14.
Shedeur Sanders is getting the top QB nod, mended fences
QB Shedeur Sanders was named a Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award finalist. Sanders has been sensational this season, among the top tier of quarterbacks in the country. Sanders has thrown for 3,488 yards with a school record 30 passing touchdowns and a QB rating of 78.3.
Sanders quelled any beef with Kansas LB Dean Miller for his non-call penalty hit during last week’s game.
Scouting the Cowboys
The Oklahoma State Cowboys have been lousy all season, with a record of 3-8, but they have yet to win an in-conference game (0-8).
If the Buffs can have a monumental outing of their running game, this is the game to do it. OSU allowed an average of 231.5 yards on the ground, dead last in the Big 12. Furthermore, the Buffs should have a field day offensively, as the Cowboys’ total defense is also the worst in the conference, giving up 503.3 yards per game.
Despite the anemic defense, the Cowboys have an efficient passing attack, led by QB Alan Bowman, ranking fourth in the conference with 279.1 yards per game.
