Why 5-Star WR Cederian Morgan might shock the nation and choose Colorado

Elite WR prospect Cederian Morgan made a surprise stop in Boulder between SEC visits. Could Coach Prime land his biggest recruit yet for the 2026 class?

If you told me three years ago that Colorado would be in a legit recruiting war with Alabama, Auburn, and Georgia for a five-star wide receiver, I would have complimented you on your franchise mode in NCAA Football 26.

But man — here we are.

Cederian Morgan, the No. 2 wide receiver in the Class of 2026, made a surprise visit to Boulder yesterday, and folks, that’s not a casual swing through the mountains. This is his second visit. That’s serious interest.

The 6-foot-4, 210-pound freak out of Benjamin Russell High School in Alexander City, Alabama, has a list that reads like a who’s-who of college football powerhouses: Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, Clemson…and also...Coach Prime’s Buffaloes.

And now we’re two weeks out from his decision, set for July 2. I won’t lie — Colorado’s in a dogfight here. But it’s not just hype anymore. This is real.

The visit that might flip the narrative

Let’s talk about this second visit — the surprise one.

Morgan just wrapped things up at Auburn on June 13. Alabama is up next today. But yesterday, boom, he posts a picture outside of Snooze on Pearl Street. His second visit since May 11. Standing next to Corey Phillips and Syracuse OT commit Javon Cooper (another low-key huge visitor), Morgan looked right at home.

This might not just be some recruiting courtesy stop. That might be a check-in.

According to On3, he told reporters that “Colorado’s got a great shot.” Read that again. A kid from Bama, raised in a Crimson Tide family, saying that about us. That’s not small.

Why this actually makes sense

If you’re Cederian Morgan, what’s on your mind? What brings interest in joining the Buffs?

Quarterback — Check. Julian Lewis, the No. 1 QB in the 2026 class, is already on the team and graduated from high school. We know he's going to be special.

CoachingJason Phillips is no slouch. His WR resume is NFL-rich. Add in Coach Prime, Marshall Faulk, Warren Sapp, and you’ve got elite development baked in.

The League — Colorado had three WRs drafted this year. If you’re trying to get to the next level, Boulder is now a launch pad just like in the early 90s.

Morgan wouldn’t be just another guy buried in a blue blood’s WR room. In Boulder, he’d be the guy. The building block and the face of the 2026 class. The star of the 2027 CFP, possibly.

The hype is warranted

Morgan is a production monster. Last season: 70 catches, 1,162 yards, 14 touchdowns. His film looks like someone hit “create-a-player” on NCAA Football.

He’s also a multi-sport stud — double-doubles on the basketball court, clearing 6’8” in high jump, and burning a 21.74 in the 200-meter. It’s not just the size. It’s the twitch, the explosiveness, the whole package.

247Sports called him a “luxury sports car.” Just watch two plays of him, and you will realize he’s just different.

So… can Colorado really pull this off?

That’s the million-dollar question. The Crystal Ball predictions have it at 50/50 between Bama and Auburn. His family? Diehard Tide fans. His heart? Who knows.

But the fact that Colorado is in this conversation at all tells you how far this program has come. Coach Prime isn’t just selling flash anymore — he’s selling substance. NFL results. Player development. A WR pipeline.

And maybe most importantly — an opportunity to build something. Morgan could be the Buffs version of what Julio Jones was for Alabama.

This one would be a program-changer.

This would be the first time Coach Prime lands a five-star skill guy and makes him the center of an entire class.

If Morgan chooses Colorado on July 2, we’re not just celebrating a commitment. We’re looking at the start of something that could change everything about how we recruit.

Julian Lewis throwing to Cederian Morgan in black and gold?

That’s a future I can get behind.
