Four-star safety Jordan Deck, one of the top defensive backs in the class of 2026, just dropped his Top 4, and Colorado has made the cut. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound playmaker out of Lone Star High School in Frisco, Texas has been climbing recruiting boards all year, and after taking his official visit to Boulder earlier this month, it’s clear that the Buffs made a serious impression.

Deck is considering Penn State, Michigan, Baylor, and Colorado. But make no mistake, Coach Prime and the Buffs are right in the thick of this battle.

“After visiting Colorado I’m very fond of them. And seriously considering them. But what really caught my eye was how Colorado is for the players,” Deck told On3.

That line right there says a lot.

Coach Prime has made it his mission to transform Colorado into a player-first destination, and it's working. From the facilities to NIL opportunities, Boulder is the place to be—and Deck sees that.

Why Deck matters for the Buffs

Deck is a ballhawk with speed, size, and high IQ, someone who can immediately elevate Colorado’s secondary. His sophomore year stat line was 75 tackles, 5 interceptions, and 10 pass breakups. He followed it up with a junior campaign that included 12 PBUs and a sack.

And this kid is also a track athlete—the speed is real.

If Colorado lands Deck, he’s not just a future starter, he’ll be a foundational piece. Coach Prime is doing this the right way, going after lineman and foundational defenders. These are the players that come up strong late in the season.

What’s next?

Deck has two more official visits scheduled—Michigan on May 30 and Baylor on June 20—before making his commitment decision likely by the end of June.

Right now, Michigan and Penn State are believed to be the favorites, but don’t sleep on the Buffs. Deck’s experience in Boulder clearly made an impact, and with Coach Prime’s player-first culture and Texas roots, that edge could be the difference-maker.
