Will Shedeur Sanders be the next Browns QB?

The Cleveland Browns have a big decision to make with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. While some believe they’ll target Cam Ward or trade down, rumors are swirling this week that they might be in love with Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

There’s no denying Sanders is one of the most polished passers in this draft. He put up incredible numbers in 2024, throwing for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, and completing 74% of his passes. His ability to read defenses, stay composed under pressure, and make NFL-level throws has teams excited.

But is Cleveland the right fit? Some individuals, including possibly Myles Garrett, have hinted at the Browns’ growing interest in Sanders. The team’s current quarterback situation is murky, with Deshaun Watson’s injuries and inconsistent play leaving the franchise in limbo. Drafting Sanders could be a fresh start, but it would also mean moving on from Watson’s massive contract—something easier said than done.

Personally, I see Sanders landing elsewhere. The New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders both need quarterbacks and seem like more natural fits. The Giants, picking third, could snag him if the Browns pass. The Raiders, picking sixth, might trade up if they see him as their guy.

So, will Cleveland actually pull the trigger on Sanders at No. 2? I don't see a Sanders fitting into the blue-collar Cleveland environment. But it’s going to be a gamble.

If they believe he’s their future franchise quarterback, it’s one worth taking.
