The Colorado Buffaloes enter game two of their three-game road trip Thursday night as they take on the Washington Huskies in Seattle, Washington. Colorado is currently -2.5 favorites and the current over/under is set at 137.0
These are very important games for the Buffs as they look to get back into the thick of things in the Pac-12 standings. Colorado is coming off a huge comeback win against Oregon. That was the first time Colorado has beaten Oregon in Eugene since Feb. 7, 2013 — Spencer Dinwiddie and Andre Roberson were on that squad.
Colorado and Washington have already played once this season, resulting in a 78-64 Colorado win in Boulder. Tristan da Silva led the way for the Buffs with 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting. Julian Hammond III (14) and Jabari Walker (11) were the other two Buffs in double figures.
Washington had three players in double figures, led by Cole Bajema scoring 18 off the bench, Emmitt Matthews Jr. with 16, and Terrell Brown Jr. with 12.
After their loss to Colorado, Washington won three-straight — including wins over California, Stanford, and at Oregon St. Shorty thereafter, the Huskies got trounced by Oregon and lost by 28.
Brown Jr. is someone to keep an eye on for the Huskies. The senior guard is averaging a team-high 20.9 points on 44.5% shooting. The next closest player is Matthews Jr. with 11.6.
As long as Colorado limits the costly turnovers and stay out of foul trouble, they should be able to cover the -2.5 spread. Road games are always tricky though.
Colorado lost to the 1-11 Huskies on Jan. 20, 2021 last season by the final score of 84-80. The Buffs couldn’t contain Marcus Tsohonis who scored 27 points on 9-of-13 shooting, including 4-of-6 from three. Tsohonis transferred to VCU this past offseason. He’s averaging 6.6 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.8 assists for the Rams.
