The 97th annual East-West Shrine Bowl for 2022 was held in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium last evening. Where the best talent in all of college football looked to up their draft stock for the upcoming NFL Draft. America’s best and brightest were on hand to give the nation a show.

The West All-Stars just edged out the East All-Stars for the win with a 25-24 victory. East quarterback EJ Perry from Brown threw for 241 yards and 3 touchdowns. Quarterback Dustin Crum senior from Kent State also threw for 37 yards and led the East stars in rushing with 29 yards. Nebraska wide receiver Samori Toure shined in the air catching 2 touchdowns and 32 yards. Junior Pierre Strong Jr. out of South Dakota state caught himself a touchdown bringing in 65 yards, and Josh Johnson from Tulsa caught 4 receptions for 98 yards receiving.

On the West’s side of the ball Notre Dame senior quarterback Jack Coan led the team with 91 yards and 1 touchdown. Kansas State star Skylar Thompson threw for 76 yards and a touchdown. Ty Chandler out of North Carolina led the team in rushing with 11 carries for 69 yards. Running back  Clint Ratkovich from Northern Illinois carried for 17 yards, and sophomore Jashaun Corbin from Florida State carried the ball 8 times for 50 yards with a score. For the West receiving Tay Martin led the way senior from Oklahoma State with 47 yards. Virginia tight end Jelani Woods caught 30 yards passing and 1 touchdown. Stanley Berryhill III from Arizona and Jarreth Sterns from Western Kentucky caught 30 yards passing as well. Oregon State tight end Teagan Quitoriano caught a small pass for a big touchdown as well for the West.

The Colorado Buffaloes defensivemen showed up in fine fashion too. Linebackers Nate Landman and Carson Wells were given invites to the Shrine Bowl earlier this year. Carson Wells shined in the first half with a big stop on third and goal on the goal line for the West. That is the type of tenacity and toughness the NFL scouts are looking for in an all-time linebacker.

It was the type of under-pressure play that any NFL team love to have. We can’t wait to see Carson Wells and Nate Landman in the upcoming NFL Draft and see where both you boys land. The NFL Draft beings on Thursday, April 18th at 8 p.m. ET. Once again at the home of the Raiders in Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Good luck to you all!
