Another member of the Colorado Buffaloes men’s basketball team will test the waters in the transfer portal. According to a report, Buffaloes guard

Keeshawn Barthelemy

will enter the transfer portal and look for an opportunity elsewhere.

That makes it three players now from the Buffs that are looking for an opportunity elsewhere next season. Evan Battey made it known that he is going to forgo his extra year of eligibility and go the professional route while guard Eli Parquet will enter the portal as a graduate transfer.

Battey and Parquet were the lone upperclassman getting minutes on this team.

Keeshawn was supposedly the heir apparent to McKinley Wright IV, but ended up losing his spot in the starting rotation toward the backend of the Pac-12 schedule on Tad Boyle’s Buffs.

Freshman Julian Hammond III ended up taking the reigns while Kee was still getting starter minutes off the bench.

Barthelemy started 28 of the 33 games for Colorado this past season, averaging 11.1 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists while shooting 42.0% from the field and 82.6% from the charity stripe. He saw his minutes jump rom 11.5 to 25.8 from his first to his second year while all his shooting percentages improved as well.

Kee’s loss is a blow, but Tad’s team will be in good hands with Hammond and KJ Simpson running the point. Simpson was impressive as a freshman for this team, providing energy and a spark off the bench with the Buffs so desperately needed it.

Simpson averaged 7.4 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 32 games played and was named to the 2021-22 Pac-12 All-Freshman First Team.

Best of luck to Keeshawn, Evan and Eli on their future endeavors!
