Coach Prime and Co. did “some” recruiting during the Colorado football program’s bye week according to BuffZone’s Brian Howell — with the focus of the Buffaloes coaching staff being on improving the team in the short-term after a brutal 46-43 double overtime loss to Stanford.

“The CU staff did some recruiting over the bye, as well as trying to fix issues that have plagued the team so far,” Howell wrote.

Coach Prime got into the coaching staff’s to-do list, which mostly included working on improving the current roster.

“We talked to some players and talked to some coaches as well as to what we’re gonna do when we get back in,” Sanders said. “I compile a list that’s crazy. It may be a 50-point list of things that we’ve got to incorporate, things that we got to do. So I never stop, which is unfortunate for me, but I’ve got to mix in some rest with that as well.

“The coaches had a task to pretty much give an analyzation of each player. So I got a scouting report on each player and how they felt about each player, how they’re helping us; can they help us in the future, and so forth. So that was tremendous. That was a tremendous assessment of each player and where we are.”

Colorado football players ‘below’ what Coach Prime expects of them

Howell included a harrowing message on how the Buffs are in their development under Colorado’s first-year coaching staff; indicating that Coach Prime’s expectations are not being met by his overhauled roster.

“Where they are is below what Sanders expects of his team,” Howell wrote.

After a loss like the one CU took against Stanford, there can’t be any sugarcoating the team’s progress. Especially when it followed struggles against ASU in a narrow win, USC in the first half of a near-comeback loss, and Oregon in a 42-6 blowout defeat that proved they were nowhere close to College Football Playoff contention as constructed.
