Things are not playing out in 2023 how either star Colorado football offseason flip Cormani McClain, a DB who curved Miami for Coach Prime and the Buffs, and Omarion Miller, who ditched Nebraska for their Red Letter Rivalry foe.

But that doesn’t mean the superstar pairing, who were integral in CU’s near-comeback against USC in a 48-41 loss on September 30, should give up on the possibility of being the first two long-term stars under Deion Sanders in Boulder.

Neither player has appeared much since Week 5, with Miller at least getting snaps during Colorado’s matchups against ASU as opposed to McClain who has gotten three straight DNP’s-Deion’s decision. In Miller’s case, a loaded receiving corps is making him a bench luxury. McClain is more talented than the player ahead of him on the depth chart, Carter Stoutmire, though, — and many point that out every week on social media — but won’t see the field because Coach Prime isn’t a fan of his work ethic.

Neither should give up on the Buffs, though. Opportunities could come in 2024.

Opportunities will be available for Colorado football blue-chips Omarion Miller and Cormani McClain in Boulder if they stay

Miller won’t have Xavier Weaver ahead of him on the depth chart with the former USF star on his last year of eligibility and likely NFL-bound during the 2024 draft. Javon Antonio is also in his last year of eligibility. Travis Hunter could start taking fewer snaps at receiver too, as pressure mounts to not overwork the two-way star with historic snap-counts. Miller’s path to playing time is linear, with only one receiver, three-star Zycarl Lewis out of Venice (Florida), incoming. Coach Prime will likely hunt for transfer portal options, but Miller will have a leg up as someone with a year of experience under his belt.

McClain simply needs to start impressing Sanders on and off the field. The Lakeland star has Coach Prime’s respect from a skills perspective; just not an attitude perspective. If/when that is cleared up, McClain and Hunter will form the scariest cornerback room in the country.

Staying in Boulder could make Miller and McClain legendary as the first long-term legends in Coach Prime’s Colorado story.

Sounds like a good enough reason to stay.
