Colorado can U-turn, hand QB1 role to No. 2 overall 2025 recruit
Colorado football can U-turn from their plans for Shedeur Sanders to hand Antwann Hill Jr. the Buffs’ QB1 role, instead signing the Class of 2025’s No. 1 quarterback and No. 2 overall recruit, Bryce Underwood, and having the two duke it out to lead CU under center.
As The Michigan Insider’s Steve Lorenz notes, Colorado is one of the four teams with the best odds to land the Belleville, Michigan superstar when he makes his commitment decision on January 6.
“The Wolverines are working on getting Underwood up to campus for the Ohio State game in a few weeks,” Lorenz wrote. “He has visited Colorado, Penn State and LSU thus far this season. He will also make his final decision on January 6th. The belief right now is that LSU, Michigan, Alabama and Colorado are in best position with the five-star.”
Antwann Hill Jr. was thought to be who Colorado football would build around
Back on October 20, BuffsBeat’s Joshe Tolle made the claim that Colorado would build around Hill given his commitment to the Buffs; not to mention the promise made to him by Coach Prime and Co. that he’d be handed the baton from Shedeur.
“Colorado’s currently in a middle of a bye week, but the news of Hill joining the Buffs is huge for Coach Prime’s recruiting efforts going forward,” Tolle prefaced before saying, “He’ll be the next on up to replace Shedeur Sanders when he leaves for the NFL. The signal-caller is highly-touted as one of the best in the future recruiting classes. Many people speculated if Colorado would pull Detroit area QB Bryce Underwood, who remains the top-overall recruit in 2025. However, with Hill making his intentions known early Sanders and the Buffs can build around him.”
Underwood’s eventual decision could have a severe domino effect on the Buffs in 2025 and beyond. Then again, no decision is final until the NLI has been signed; as countless recruiting flips across the country, including in Boulder during Deion Sanders’ first offseason, have shown us.
