Lane Kiffin has done a tremendous job at Ole Miss over the past few seasons, proving himself as a successful college coach. But with all of his success, Kiffin may look to go back and take a job with the NFL. During his career coaching in the National Football League, he was 5-15, but that was a long time ago. Kiffin has grown as a coach since, and if he decides to leave Ole Miss for a job opening at the pro level, perhaps the next domino to fall would be Coach Prime taking over for the Rebels and leaving Colorado football high and dry.

Saturday Down South’s Matt Hayes believes that Ole Miss will not be able to keep Lane Kiffin as well despite whatever they throw at him.

“They’re not going to like it, but they better prepare for it,” Hayes prefaced before saying, “At some point, Ole Miss won’t be able to keep coach Lane Kiffin. No matter the money they’ll throw at him, no matter the odd yet wildly successful fit.”

Ole Miss an interesting situation for Coach Prime to consider given Colorado football struggles

While Coach Prime has stated in the past he is happy with being the coach for Colorado, moving to a top program like Ole Miss is interesting considering his existing ties to Mississippi from his previous role at Jackson State. The chance to play on the biggest stage in the SEC is also something that any coach would want. Doing so would allow Deion Sanders to be closer to both Florida and Texas, where he could do some heavy recruiting to make that program one of the top in the nation.

Colorado should trust Coach Prime and believe that he will not leave Boulder, but as we all know everyone has the right to change their mind, and the Ole Miss job may be the one that does get him to change his decision.

We all hope he continues to build the Buffs into becoming the very best in college football — but we cannot be too surprised if he leaves either.
