What's going to happen with Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders on Thursday night? That's the question everyone has on their minds, as the star signal-caller is getting ready to hear his name called in the first round of the NFL Draft.
However, it's very much up in the air how long he's going to have to wait. On the Rich Eisen Show, Ian Rapoport raised plenty of eyebrows when he said that Sanders was still in play for the New York Giants with the No. 3 overall pick.
This caught a lot of people off guard, as it seemed like Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll have been focusing of late on Abdul Carter. Well, Adam Schefter went ahead and put the kibosh on the Sanders-to-New York rumor - he said on NFL Live that it's not going to happen:
“Shedeur Sanders is not going to the Giants at No. 3.

Shedeur Sanders won't be drafted by the NY Giants according to Adam Schefter
If you were thinking about ordering a Sanders-New York jersey, sorry, but it's not going to be available for you. Sanders' stock has been dipping of late, while the same most definitely can't be said about Jaxson Dart, who might end up sneaking into the Top 10-15.
As for the Giants, it's starting to feel like it'd be a stunner if they don't rock with Carter at No. 3 overall. He'd join an already loaded pass-rush, which already features Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux (though trade rumors are surrounding his name) and Dexter Lawrence. Sanders on the other hand will be waiting patiently to be taken off the board.
There's been increased buzz that Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers might jump at the chance to draft him if Sanders falls to No. 21. The hope is he doesn't fall that much in Round 1, but you never know what might happen. What we do know, however, is that Schoen won't be bringing in Sanders to be the Giants' long-term replacement for Daniel Jones.
