Bucky Sanders' affirmation was all Shilo needed to send strong message to detractors

Shilo Sanders has a bold response for everyone criticizing his performance on Saturday and Deion Sanders Jr. is backing him up; proving family loyalty in the process.

Saturday was a bad day for Shilo Sanders. His performance attracted even more criticism than Colorado did in general for losing against K-State. Even his father, Deion Sanders, called it "horrible."

Shilo attracted flack from all angles. It was about time that Buffs' safety delivered his take on everything.

"You work to get back and you have the worst game of your life. It's disappointing for me, especially the fans. I'm not worried about everybody turning on me. I can’t be going out there not on my game. I’m the free safety. If I mess up, everybody is gonna see it. As soon as you do good they gonna be by your side," Sanders said in his post-game conference (h/t DNVR Buffs).

Given the family bond the Sanders boast, it didn't take much time for Deion Sanders Jr. to back his brother's words up. Bucky knows his brother is a hot potato in college football conversations, but that didn't stop him from tweeting his support.

"The rejected will be respected. It’s nothing to turn a non believer into a believer. I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe," Sanders Jr. wrote on X.

Shilo Sanders also addressed his father's criticism

Along with his haters, the Buffs' safety also had a response to his father's "he played horrible" comment. Sanders just had one assurance he wanted to deliver to Prime: his commitment to bettering.

"I'm not really worried about none of that," Shilo prefaced before saying, "I'm worried about me getting better. I'm worried about me contributing to the team and helping us win. You know, my role, I can't be going out there not on my game. I'm the free safety. If I mess up, everybody's gonna see it. So, I gotta pay attention and be on my game at all times.”

Making a return in just three weeks after a critical forearm surgery, one which some NFL players have taken the whole season to rehabilitate, and playing a game was a brave move in itself, especially since this was one of the first major injuries Shilo Sanders was dealing with.

While his arm injury might be progressing well, only time will tell how well his performance progresses. His return was not exactly inspiring, but rust is real and Shilo has time to right the ship before his collegiate career is over.
