If you blink, you might miss him — but DeKalon Taylor is officially a Colorado Buffalo.
After visiting Boulder last week, the Incarnate Word star RB didn’t waste any time. Now, he’s the first spring portal addition to Coach Prime’s backfield, and we are fired up.

At just 5-foot-9, 166 pounds, he doesn’t fit the mold of a power back — but who cares? What he does bring is jaw-dropping speed, elite return ability, and the kind of playmaking ability that changes the momentum of games in a flash.
This is the same guy we were talking about last week, who burned defenses for a 97-yard touchdown — the longest run in UIW history. He racked up 909 rushing yards, nine scores, and close to 300 punt return yards last season alone. He also added 22 catches in the passing game. He’s not just a back. He’s a weapon.
Taylor fits right into Coach Prime’s vision for a more explosive, versatile offense. After losing Isaiah Augustave, the Buffs needed a game-changer. Taylor checks that box and then some.
He is a two-time All-Conference returner, first-team All-Conference RB, and an all-academic selection to top it off. This isn’t just a flashy transfer. It’s a high-character, high-upside playmaker.
Boulder just added a joystick to its offense. I'm looking for Taylor to take the ball to the house come Week 1.
