Deion Sanders has generated quite the turnaround in Boulder over the last two years. In just a short span, he took a struggling Colorado Buffaloes franchise to a bowl game, a top 25 ranking, and produced a Heisman winner along with another top pick.

But, how is Coach Prime doing as a coach? Well, CBS’ Tom Fornelli rates Sanders’ Colorado stint's second season a strong B+.

“The second verse was much better than the first,” Fornelli wrote. “While Deion Sanders generated plenty of headlines and buzz at Colorado in his first season, a 4-8 mark after a hot start led to plenty of skepticism heading into 2024. The Buffs answered by going 7-2 in the Big 12. Travis Hunter won the Heisman Trophy, and Shedeur Sanders solidified his status as one of the best QBs in the country. The upcoming season will be interesting as Sanders' first year coaching without one of his sons on the team.”

Fornelli has a point. After all, any team would struggle to adjust to a squad without a Heisman winner and a first-round QB, so why not the Buffaloes?

It will certainly be interesting, as Fornelli writes, to see how Sanders is able to adjust to a team without these players, but what makes this more interesting is the loss of his sons. Some have even begun to speculate that Sanders will leave the Buffaloes, though we now know it won’t be for the Dallas position.

So, how will Sanders do? Will he choose to stay with the Buffaloes, despite losing his sons? Only time will tell.
