Saturday night was special for Colorado's two-way star Travis Hunter; partially because he won the Heisman Trophy, and the other half because his special ones, family and teammates, were present with him, cheering for him from the audience when Hunter received the honor.
It was Hunter who made his teammates' presence there possible to make the evening special.
Colorado football superfan and Boulder-based realtor Laura Levy shared an inside fact that "Travis flew 50+ teammates, and staff at his expense to New York for the ceremony."
Along with Hunter's mom, his fiance Leanna Lenee, Coach Prime, and Shedeur Sanders, CU players like Jimmy Horn Jr., LaJohntay Wester, and more were in attendance.
To make it all more emotional, Hunter also showed the Colorado staffers his sincere gratitude in his Heisman speech.
"Hey, appreciate y’all, man, I love y’all. I put y’all on the flight, but y’all the most people that made it. Thank y’all for making the flight. Holding my name down, holding the Colorado name down. Sko buffs, baby," Hunter said in the end of his speech, per Denver Sports.
"My Colorado Buffaloes, I appreciate y’all so much. I know y’all somewhere out here in New York. Nobody knows y’all here, but now they know baby, now they know. I thank all the brothers, all my brothers through college."
Hunter becomes the second-ever player from Colorado to win the sport's most coveted individual award, following the late great Rashaan Salaam's Heisman Trophy win back in 1994.
