The Colorado football coaching staff just got stronger as head coach Deion Sanders just brought in an experienced Super Bowl Champion play-caller to the sideline. Sanders recently hired former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Bryon Leftwich to his offensive staff.
Leftwich was with the Buccaneers from 2019 to 2022, winning the Super Bowl with them in the 2020 season. The offensive coordinator was fired by the Bucs in January 2023 and has not found another coaching job till now. Before working with the Bucs, Leftwich spent time with the Arizona Cardinals from 2016 to 2018.
One of Leftwich's biggest accomplishments is the Super Bowl Championship he helped the Bucs retain working with NFL legend Tom Brady as his quarterback. After interviewing for jobs in this year's NFL, hiring cycling, and not landing anything, Leftwich is officially making his move to college football.

After a rough first year with Colorado, Sanders was able to turn the offense around in Buffalo's first season in the Big 12. Behind quarterback Sheduer Sanders, Colorado had the fifth-best offense in the conference, and Sanders had the most passing yards of any other quarterback in the Big 12 with 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns.
However, this season, Colorado will no longer have Sanders or star wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter. The offense may very well take a step back, but bringing in a very experienced NFL-caliber coach like Leftwich could be just what the Buffaloes need to keep their offense at the level it needs to be.
Leftwich was formally introduced to the team on Wednesday, March 19, just as spring practice is beginning. While the former NFL coach doesn't necessarily have a formal title as of yet at Colorado, it is well known that he is going to work these guys to the bone just like Sanders does in each and every one of his practices.
