Things have not gone Coach Prime’s way since the beginning of the Colorado Buffaloes’ Alamo Bowl matchup against BYU -- and the sporting world is not happy.
“It’s gonna be a long day for Colorado man,” stated a user after the Cougars’ 64-yard punt return touchdown.
“My only blunder is trusting Deion Sanders to win,” said another.
In a controversial interview before the half, Coach Prime noted that special teams, penalty discipline, and significant offensive changes will have to take place for the Buffs to mount such incredible odds and squeeze out a win over BYU.
“We gotta protect,” Coach Prime said. “We’re doing everything to try to move the ball… we’re gonna make the necessary adjustments at halftime and come out looking like a new team."
The Buffs’ offense has been mediocre at best in this first-half performance, with Shadeur Sanders throwing 7/10 and 70 yards, 60 of which were to Heisman winner Travis Hunter.
Though many Buffs fans are frustrated with the Buffaloes’ performance, other sporting fans take issue with the fact that Coach Prime’s hype seems to supersede his teams’ abilities– at least, as far as ESPN is concerned.
“Interviewing Deion Sanders going into halftime after getting out-scored 20-0 is hilariously ESPN,” KSL Sports' Tanner Tripp stated.
Another user noted that in the sideline interview preceding halftime, reporter Taylor McGregor did not ask Sanders why he elected not to use a timeout to try to score before the half.
The Buffs are in rough shape, but Coach Prime believes they’ll be able to make a second-half comeback to secure the Buffaloes’ first bowl win in 20 years.
We’ll see what they do.
