Deion Sanders could get good news on Saturday even if Colorado loses

Facing a must-win game to keep a realistic path to bowl eligibility, Deion Sanders could get good news on Saturday regardless of how the Arizona game goes.

There's nothing that Deion Sanders wants more on Saturday than a win. Colorado needs it. For a variety of reasons.

At 3-5, another loss wouldn't completely shut the door on the possibility for bowl eligibility, but it would require the Buffaloes to win out from there. But it's deeper than that. Everything around the program feels sullen and downtrodden in the aftermath of last week's blowout loss to Utah.

Colorado needs to win just to show that things aren't as bad as they seemed after that embarrassing performance in Salt Lake City.

But regardless of what happens at Folsom Field on Saturday night, Colorado could walk away from the weekend as major winners, even in defeat.

5-star 2027 QB Kavian Bryant will announce his college decision a few hours before Colorado kicks off against Arizona. Bryant, the No. 2 QB in the 247 composite rankings, wil choose his school between a final four of Colorado, Texas, Texas Tech, and Florida State.

At one time, there was significant buzz toward Texas Tech for Bryant. Predictions rolled in that he was going to end up in Lubbock, and while that still very well may be the case, that was before he took his visit to Boulder.

Coach Prime made a big impression on Bryant, putting Colorado squarely in the mix for the 5-star Texas product.

Kavian Bryant's commitment could be just the momentum Coach Prime needs

The Colorado program is sorely in need of some positive momentum. This season has been a disappointment, no matter what happens down the stretch. The Buffaloes are now squarely focused on the future, and what comes net for Sanders and the program.

Despite plenty of questions about Coach Prime's willingness to stick around next season and beyond, he's given no indications that he'll be anywhere but Colorado next season.

Landing Bryant on Saturday would give the program a clear direction forward. The future of the QB position is already in Boulder with Julian Lewis, but he'd be entering his third season by the time Bryant made it to campus, setting up a perfect transition from one elite QB recruit to another.

Sanders knows how important the QB position is. His son Shedeur Sanders led the team to nine wins a year ago with elite play. Colorado couldn't even call the QB play this season mediocre without exaggerating.

Getting the right QB is pivotal for the sustainability of the program. Coach Prime could solidify that by landing another 5-star.
