"They're high on my list," Coach Prime makes a big move for 5-star QB after visit

Most considered 5-star QB Kavian Bryant more of a long shot to end up in Colorado's 2027 class. Prior to taking the visit this past weekend to Boulder, Bryant had already been predicted by recruiting experts to land in Texas Tech's class.

As the great Lee Corso always said: not so fast, my friend.

Following his weekend visit to Colorado, Coach Prime and the program made a big impression on Bryant, who said in the aftermath that the Buffs are now high on his list:

Bryant is currently ranked as a consensus 5-star and the No. 35 overall player in the 2027 class, per the 247 composite. He's the No. 2 QB behind only Baton Rouge's Elijah Haven. The Palestine, Texas native has his pick of the litter in where he wants to go to college.

If NIL is ultimately a factor, then Bryant will probably make his way to Lubbock. Texas Tech has made a massive investment in its football program, and Colorado won't be able to match what it can offer. But Sanders is an elite recruiter, and he often has the Buffaloes in the mix despite not being able to pay what others can.

Kavian Bryant would be a huge piece for Colorado's 2027 class

If Coach Prime can reel Bryant into the boat, it would give Colorado a massive starting point in the 2027 class. The Buffs have found some recent momentum in the 2026 cycle with commitments from 4-star DL Emanuel Ruffin and 3-star WR Christian Ward. That moved Colorado up the rankings, but they still are at No. 69 in the 2026 class in the composite rankings.

Time is running out to sign a Top 30ish class for this cycle, but landing Bryant early would allow Colorado to set itself up for a big run in 2027. As things stand, Colorado doesn't have anyone committed for the 2027 class, as Coach Prime has been playing catch-up on 2026 prospects after missing so much time over the summer battling bladder cancer.

Colorado signed an elite QB in the 2025 class in Julian Lewis, who figures to be the QB of the future in Boulder for at least the next two seasons. They would love to follow that up with another 5-star QB in the 2027 class to ensure a smooth transition from one elite signal-caller to another.
