Deion Sanders gives opponents ammunition if Colorado football loses with humorous rant

Deion Sanders may lose games for Colorado football by not playing the numbers. It'd probably be from throwing too many passing plays and not milking any clock while holding a lead. When that happens, opponents will have ammunition after Coach Prime gave the kind of speech that could come back to bite him in this era of digital receipts.

“Who is the guy named analytics? I’ve never met him, I’ve never seen him," said Sanders (h/t A to Z Sports). "I don’t know what he looks like. Is he a winner? Is he wealthy? Is he broke? Who is he? I don’t know what he looks like. You got to know your team. Forget analytics man. You got to know your team and what they’re capable of. Sometimes it's just self-explanatory."

For two years, the offense has oftentimes not played the numbers. Shedeur Sanders' numbers have taken priority, and there have been bad losses, none worse than Stanford, that crushed the spirit of Colorado fans in 2023.

2024 looked like it'd be more of the same during the season's opening two weeks but CU has flipped the script and played complete games where trailing wasn't on the radar. Or, in the case of the K-State loss, there was just not enough gas in the tank due to key injuries to Travis Hunter and Jimmy Horn Jr.

There will be a point where calling a smart game will come into play again. Will it prove to be a Shedeur problem or will Colorado's future QB also get that level of autonomy?

Besides the Nebraska loss, the Buffs have brought it every week. North Dakota State beat South Dakota State so the Bison win looks better already. Baylor and UCF looked good in Week 8 beating Texas Tech and taking a ranked Iowa State team down to the wire.

Thus far, Colorado's schedule is proving to be adequate in the prove-it department. And 5-2 through Week 8 is proof in the pudding.
