Deion Sanders and Colorado continued their strong recruiting momentum Sunday by landing two significant commitments for the future of the Buffaloes program.
Four-star offensive tackle Li’Marcus Jones announced his commitment to Colorado during a ceremony at Brentwood Academy in Tennessee, while Houston Lamar cornerback Prince Washington also revealed his decision for the Buffs on social media.
Together, the two commitments gave Coach Prime additions on both sides of the football in what turned into another productive recruiting day for Colorado.
Before revealing his decision, Jones took time to thank the people who helped him reach the moment while referencing both his athletic and academic future.
“I want to thank everybody. want to thank my family for supporting me for the sacrifice,” Jones said. “To my friends, I appreciate y’all …for the next three to four years …I will take my athletic and academic talents to…”
Then came the announcement. “University of Colorado.”
Jones, a 6-foot-5 offensive tackle viewed as one of the top prospects in Tennessee, immediately becomes one of the highest-rated hard commits currently in Colorado’s class. His commitment addresses a position Colorado has aggressively prioritized as Sanders and his staff continue trying to build more depth and long-term stability along the offensive line.
Washington’s commitment added another athletic defensive back to a program that has consistently emphasized secondary talent under Sanders. The Houston Lamar product announced his decision online with a “1000% COMMITTED!!” message directed toward Colorado.
These announcements followed a major recruiting weekend in Boulder that brought numerous top prospects to campus. Colorado is also expected to host another significant wave of visitors in June as the Buffaloes continue trying to build momentum within the 2027 recruiting cycle.
According to 247Sports, Colorado currently holds the No. 41 recruiting class nationally for 2027. While there is still considerable room for improvement, the Buffaloes are tracking well ahead of where several of the program’s recent recruiting classes stood at this same point in the calendar.
There is also growing potential this could eventually become Deion Sanders’ highest-ranked high school recruiting class at Colorado. That possibility would represent a noticeable evolution in roster-building philosophy for Sanders, whose early approach in Boulder leaned heavily on the transfer portal during the program’s rapid rebuild.
Colorado still remains active in the portal era, but the recent recruiting momentum suggests the Buffaloes may be placing an even greater long-term emphasis on building through high school recruiting alongside transfer additions.
