Deion Sanders looking at much more than bowl eligibility with Colorado football's test against UC
If Deion Sanders and Colorado football nab a win against the Cincinnati Bearcats this Saturday, they'll achieve something much more than bowl eligibility. Yes, they will also multiply their -- and by theyr, we probably just mean Travis Hunter's -- chances of winning the Heisman race, but this is something else. Something equally major.
Coach Prime will also earn a shot at the National Coach of the Year with the win. To get it, the Buffs have to ensure they don't lose their next games until they have about 8-9 wins.
It's all good news on that front as Colorado football has the odds in their favor for almost every upcoming game.
"They came in this season predicted to finish 11 in their conference. They got a leading candidate for the Heisman, Travis Hunter, soon enough he'll be healthy enough to play a few more games this season. If Deion Sanders gets this team to eight or nine wins, and they are in a bowl game, ladies and gentlemen, you are looking at the National Coach of the Year," Stephen A. Smith said on First Take.
Even Paul Finebaum is folding and accepting it
The once-ardent hater of all things "Prime Time," Paul Finebuam, already accepted defeat once Sanders and Co. started winning.
Finebaum once again accepted this, explaining how he "failed" to understand them.
"He was right. I didn’t understand it at the time, but clearly, this is one of those cases where Stephen A. had inside knowledge. ... I am blown away by what I’m seeing from Coach Prime and his team," Finebaum said on First Take.
With all his haters turning into his fans, not to mention Coach Prime already having a massive fanbase from before, Colorado's bowl game would be a generational event for the sport. Regardless of which one it was.
