Deion Sanders adores Kalani Sitake. Coach Prime repeated that mantra while speaking to reporters ahead of Colorado's Alamo Bowl matchup against BYU on December 28.
“You know, it is a little more relaxed until you get close to game day, and then I start getting ignorant as I am. But he’s a good guy, has a great team, and I adore him. I adore him,” Sanders said, according to Deseret News. “And I am happy to be playing against this wonderful university.”
Sanders made it clear he's not taking the Cougars lightly and respects the challenge BYU will bring to San Antonio.
“Consistent team that can run the ball. They can throw the ball. They defend well. Discipline. I see a lot of discipline. A lot of young men that may not receive some of the accolades that they deserve. But they work their butts off and they do a wonderful job,” Sanders said.
“So trust me, ain’t nobody taking them lightly. They not sneaking up on us. We know when they coming.”
As Coach Prime relayed, the Buffs are bringing their best to what will be Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter's final game in a CU uniform.
“It is not just a bowl game where we are going to go be merry and have a merry Christmas and exchange gifts and all that. No, we want to go there and play Buff football. And we got some guys who want to end on a great note,” Sanders said.
Sanders has yet to win a bowl game in his college coaching career. There's no better way he can nab his first than by sending his sons off to the NFL on top of another Big 12 team that was in the championship picture until the 2024 season's final week.
