Ever since Coach Prime made it known after Saturday's loss to BYU that he believed he was dealing with blood clots in his leg again and would be seeing a doctor on Monday, Colorado fans have been on edge. They've been worried about their head coach first and foremost, but also the future of the program and whether that future would include Deion Sanders or not.

With all the health issues the Hall of Famer has dealt with over the last few years, it would be understandable if he chose to walk away from the game to focus on his health. Instead, Coach Prime is attacking the latest health scare the same way he always has: with tremendous resilience and resolve.

In his normal Tuesday media availability, Sanders revealed that he would be undergoing a lengthy procedure later today to hopefully fix his blood clot issue. He plans to be back at practice on Wednesday.

"I'm having a procedure today," Sanders told reporters. "Prayerfully, I'll be right back tomorrow because I don't miss practice. I don't plan on doing such. It is what it is, and we found what we found. We knew what it was. I have a wonderful team of doctors at UC Health, a wonderful team of trainers here to make sure and ensure my health."

Deion Sanders says the blood clots have nothing to do with coaching and working

Obviously, Coach Prime's health is at the forefront of the minds of Colorado fans who are worried about him and whether or not he will be able to continue coaching the Buffs. While Sanders appreciates the well-wishes and concern, he put that worry to bed on Tuesday.

"I got a lot of well wishes from people talking about 'you need to slow it down, you need to take a break'," Sanders said. "It has nothing to do with me working and the level that I'm trying to compete at. It's hereditary, it is what it is."

Sanders has been dealing with blood clots for many years now. He has joked he's undergone more surgeries since he retired from playing football than he ever did during his playing days. Back in 2021, Sanders had two toes removed from his left foot as a result.

Coach Prime also underwent bladder removal surgery over the summer after being diagnosed with bladder cancer. All of these issues would be enough to make anyone crumble. Not Coach Prime. He made light of the surgery, telling reporters he was excited to "get that Snoop Dogg."

"I never been high a day in my life, never drank, smoked, or anything," Sanders said. "But when I get those surgeries, I am there on time."
