The Colorado Buffaloes are officially in the hunt for five-star wide receiver Cederian Morgan, and we have every reason to be fired up.
Morgan, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound receiver out of Benjamin Russell High School in Alabama, made his first trip to Boulder this past weekend, and it seems to have left a mark.
“They got a great shot. This is my first time being there. I really enjoyed it,” Morgan told On3’s Steve Wiltfong after the visit.
That's definitely not nothing. Morgan is a top-15 national recruit and the No. 2 wide receiver in the entire Class of 2026. This puts Colorado in the same breath as Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. This is real now. The idea of Morgan in black and gold has us dreaming big again.
Coach Prime’s has already pulled this off, but this one’s different
Yes, it’s true. Deion Sanders has landed five-stars before.
He flipped cornerback Cormani McClain from Miami in the 2023 cycle — though McClain later transferred out to Florida — and last cycle brought in Jordan Seaton, the No. 1 offensive tackle in the country. That’s proof that top-tier talent will buy what Coach Prime is selling.
But here’s the difference: Cederian Morgan could be the cornerstone of a traditional recruiting class, not a flip or portal splash. If Morgan commits, it marks the first time a five-star skill player could be the centerpiece of a class built from the ground up in Boulder.
So, what makes Morgan worth all this hype?
Watch his tape. It takes about two plays to understand.
Morgan has been described by scouts as a “luxury sports car." He glides through routes like a slot guy, bullies defenders like a tight end, and skies for jump balls like a power forward.
Oh, and speaking of basketball? He averaged a double-double and dropped 26 points in a state playoff game.
Track? He’s clearing 6-foot-8 in the high jump and ran a 21.74 in the 200-meter.
Football? He racked up 70 catches, 1,162 yards, and 14 TDs as a junior. Morgan is a walking mismatch.
Will the Buffs seal the deal?
This is still an uphill battle. 247Sports still favors Alabama, and schools like Georgia, Florida, and Auburn are pushing hard.
But what’s changed is that Colorado is a real option. Morgan’s words matter. His visit matters. The fact that he’s talking about Colorado in the same breath as SEC juggernauts means Coach Prime’s plan is working.
The Buffs’ 2026 recruiting class is just getting started. With three-star tight end Gavin Mueller and Domata Peko Jr. already on board, adding Morgan would elevate the class into national relevance.
Let’s be honest… how many high school receivers wouldn’t want to play for the Colorado? The opportunity to be the first five-star WR to help build this Buffs program is a once-in-a-generation chance.
Final word
Cederian Morgan could be the piece that kicks Colorado’s recruiting operation into another gear. It would prove that Boulder is a place where elite players want to play for a shot at the NFL.
If Coach Prime can land Morgan, it’ll be a piece to a special foundation for 2026 and beyond.
