Devin Rispress won't soon forget about Deion Sanders. Though Rispress is no longer Colorado football's assistant director of player personnel and high school relations, Rispress will continue to honor Coach Prime's influence at FSU.
"FSU’s acquisition of Rispress is a significant step toward revitalizing its football program. With his skillset and passion, he’s poised to help transform the Seminoles back into a powerhouse while continuing to honor the influence of Sanders, one of his greatest inspirations," On SI's Jeff Hauser wrote.
As Hauser outlined, Rispress's influence led to Colorado's roster makeup coming from the talent-rich state of Florida.
"Known for his exceptional recruiting ability, Rispress played a crucial role in building a 'Florida Pipeline' to Colorado, bringing top-tier talent from one of the most competitive regions for high school football. His work led to nearly one-third of the Colorado Buffaloes roster hailing from the Sunshine State, a testament to his influence and deep connections in the region," Hauser wrote.
CU's success will naturally lead to losses on the coaching and support staff. Rispress was one of the most valuable members of the Buffs' player management brain trust. It's hard not to picture FSU improving in that department after getting a slew of pricey SEC transfers last season who didn't buy into Mike Norvell's culture. Norvell brought in Rispress, Gus Malzahn, and Tony White to transform a historic failure across the board for the Seminoles in 2024.
It may not work. Malzahn's offensive sets are oft-criticized for being dated. Rispress will bring talent to the table in Tallahassee regardless.
