UPDATE: Shedeur Sanders responds to Rolls-Royce story from yesterday
After signing his four-year, $4.6 million rookie deal with the Cleveland Browns, former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders is already going viral for reasons off the field. A video posted by brother Deion Sanders Jr. revealed what appears to be a custom olive green Rolls-Royce Ghost, accented in Browns orange. Price tag? Reportedly over $500,000.
Sanders, who already owned a black-and-gold Rolls during his time at Colorado, is no stranger to high-end vehicles. But with this purchase hitting social media just weeks after he fell to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, fans are torn.
Let’s be real—this is who Shedeur is. From $1 million in cash at his draft party to his iced-out chains, the Sanders family has never shied away from spectacle. And Shedeur’s off-field image reflects the same swagger he brings under center.
He can likely afford it, too. At CU, Sanders raked in over $6.5 million in NIL value, bolstered by deals with Gatorade, Nike, Beats by Dre, Urban Outfitters, and Mercedes-Benz. Many of those endorsements may follow him into the NFL.
Still, the timing and price of the car had some fans raising eyebrows.
It’s worth noting that Kurt Warner once bought a green GMC Yukon the day he signed with the Packers—thinking he'd be a "Packer for life." He later called it one of the worst decisions of his career, joking that he cursed himself by leaning into team colors before earning the role. He was cut shortly after.
Now, Sanders is no Kurt Warner—at least not yet. He has more natural buzz, more brand equity, and frankly, more arm talent at this stage. But the NFL is still the NFL. Big-money purchases come with bigger expectations.
And right now, Shedeur is battling for reps in a very crowded QB room that includes Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, and the rehabbing Deshaun Watson.
Whether it’s the car or the competition, Sanders hasn’t wavered.
“My job isn’t to prove people wrong. I prove myself right,” he told reporters. “They don’t live in my mental space.”
That attitude carried him through two stellar seasons in Boulder. And if it carries him into a starting role in Cleveland, the car will just be another trophy.
Risky? Maybe. But this is the Sanders family. They’re not afraid to bet on themselves.
