In the wake of minimal playing time and multiple injuries, former four-star and two-way player Kam Mikell has entered the NCAA transfer portal.

Despite all of the encouraging commitments to the university over the past few days, Colorado learned Tuesday afternoon that former two-way player Kam Mikell will be entering the Transfer Portal.

WR Kam Mikell has entered the Transfer Portal

The former four-star recruit out of the 2024 class chose the Buffs over schools such as Georgia and Texas A&M. A role similar to that of former Heisman winner Travis Hunter was sought by the team for the speedster.

Freak injuries derailed his Buffaloes career.

During his freshman campaign, Mikell was sidelined the entire season, forcing him to redshirt. Considering that offense was stacked with talent, it is unclear how much playing time he would've actually received.

This past season, he suffered a hand injury that limited him right away, but he ended up appearing in nine games. Coach Prime's offense did not really give him a clear position, so he played sporadic minutes.

Mikell started as a cornerback before transitioning to wide receiver full-time. He was used more as a running back this season due to the injuries at that position.

He carried the ball 19 times for 75 yards and caught just two passes for five yards. His usage and production are extremely underwhelming for someone with his speed.

Colorado has improved at both positions where he was featured at through the transfer portal, but it is unclear what his future role would have been with the team.

In addition to wide receivers Kam Perry and Danny Scudero, Colorado added running backs Damian Henderson II and JaQuail Smith through the transfer portal.

We didn't get to see Kam's potential blossom in Boulder, but it might work out well for him in the long run. It would be a great opportunity for him to go to a school where he can be featured in a prominent role so he can showcase his skillset.
