As we shift gears toward the 2026 season, this post will serve as a tracker for the Colorado Buffaloes football team regarding the Transfer Portal.

The transfer portal officially opens on Jan. 2 and will last until Jan. 16.

Omarion Miller and Tawfiq Byard headline the exodus of players from Colorado’s program.

Those two were arguably the best offensive and defensive players on the team respectively. Miller was Colorado's all-purpose receiver while Byard did everything on the defensive side of the ball.

Alex McPherson is another head-scratching departure from the program. He seemed like one of those guys you could build around on defense. McPherson was fifth on the Buffs this past season in quarterback pressures.

Colorado is high on recent high school signings Carson Crawford and Rodney Colton Jr. Keep an eye out for those two linebackers as the 2026 season rolls around. That's been an area that Colorado has lacked depth and insurance this past season.

The portal will be tested again by players such as Terrance Love, Teon Parks, and Noah King, who were brought in the past year to shore up the secondary. It was a rough year for that position group in general, especially after missing DJ McKinney for the remaining three games.

As a result of National Signing Day, Coach Prime inked three secondary players. Preston Ashley, Maurice Williams, and Braylon Edwards will look to compete for playing time in year one.

Expect Prime to be active regarding that position group and many others on the defensive side of the ball in the near future.

After a disastrous 3-9 season, Colorado will look to rebuild and retool through high school recruits and transfer portal signings. Colorado must do everything in their power to build around quarterback Julian Lewis and shore up the defensive side of the ball.
