Four-Star offensive tackle Deacon Schmitt names CU in final eight schools

One of Colorado's top offensive lineman prospect from the 2026 class is down to eight schools including the CU Buffaloes

On3 Sports Recruiting Analyst Hayes Fawcett has reported that four-star offensive tackle recruit Deacon Schmitt has listed his final eight schools which includes the Colorado Buffaloes.

The other schools included on the list are Alabama, Tennessee, Nebraska, Ohio State, USC, Oklahoma and Georgia.

The 6-foot-5, 320-pound prospect plays for Windsor High School in Windsor, Colorado. The 247Sports Composite ranks Schmitt as the No. 2 player in the state of Colorado and the No. 30 offensive lineman in the class of 2026.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Schmitt is the No. 304 overall prospect in the 2026 class. He also ranks as the nation’s No. 24 offensive tackle and No. 2 recruit in Colorado.

Colorado currently has not signed a 2026 recruit for the class but Gavin Mueller and four other top prospects have Colorado all in their final list of top schools.

Schmitt has already locked in official visits with Oklahoma (June 6), Nebraska (June 13) and Tennessee (June 20)

He also has received offers from notable programs such as California, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Kansas State, Northwestern, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Stanford, USC, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin.
