Julian Lewis chose Colorado football as the fruit of their persistent year-long efforts. The Big 12 defensive player of the year Travis Hunter thinks all of those efforts were perfectly worth the five-star QB prospect's commitment.
"Five-star commit Julian Lewis. One of the top recruits of the class of 2025 has committed to Colorado after decommitting from UCF," Hunter said on the "Travis Hunter Show." "We need him. Colorado needs him. With me and Shedeur gone, we definitely need a quarterback to go ahead and come in. Step in early and ready to fill in those shoes and continue to play great.
"I think he'll be a good kid. You just have to buy into what Coach Prime is telling him and work," Hunter concluded, leaving a little piece of advice for excelling in Colorado.
Travis Hunter's soaring Heisman odds
Although Hunter won't be able to work his magic to raise his Heisman odds anymore, his 46 receptions (third in FBS) for 561 yards (fifth in FBS) and six touchdowns (third in FBS) on the offensive line were as incredible as it gets.
On defense, the Heisman Trophy hopeful has 16 tackles (the most of any Power 4 cornerback with a missed one), a forced fumble, two interceptions, and an additional three pass breakups.
Perhaps the most impressive of it all are Hunter's 620 total snaps (300 on offense, 320 on defense).
Lewis should hold tight to Hunter's advice. It might get him to Manhattan for a Heisman campaign like Hunter.
