Julian Lewis committing to Colorado won't silence the talk of Deion Sanders skipping town and following his "Louis Vuitton" baggage, aka his sons and Travis Hunter, to the NFL according to OutKick's Trey Wallace.
"Logic would tell you that Lewis committing to Colorado and Coach Prime would end the speculation that the Colorado head coach is going to move on after this season. There has always been speculation that Deion Sanders would leave the Buffaloes after his kid finished his collegiate career. But Deion Sanders has been telling folks that would listen that he planned on being at Colorado for a long time, not just making this a pit-stop in his coaching career. There has certainly been a lot of chatter about Sanders taking the next step, but as he recently mentioned during an interview, he's put a ‘kickstand’ in Boulder," Wallace wrote.
"For the Colorado fans, they can breath a sigh of relief, for the moment. We all know that there will continue to be rumors about an NFL future over the next month."
Sanders has not only said he wouldn't go to the NFL, but has explained thoroughly why. He doesn't want to deal with pro football egos, or overzealous owners, or having his roster construction controlled by the will of an owner and his front office. He doesn't want to be a "baby daddy" who follows his kids. Sanders has already called Jordan Seaton his "son," and Shedeur has claimed that CU's next QB will be a "son" as well.
His destiny was always going to be building in Boulder and the 2024 season is all the reason to continue doing so. CU can be an NFL talent factory with the coaching staff Sanders has put together.
Assuming Sanders doesn't lose Pat Shurmur to the NFL or Robert Livingston to an FBS head coaching job, or even Warren Sapp to whoever would hire him to be more than a GA, Boulder will be the place to be indefinitely.
