Julian Lewis is the start of a 'train of commits' who'll commit to Colorado football
Yahoo Sports' Dan Wetzel pointed out an obvious fact in the wake of a turning point kind of day for Colorado football on November 21: the Buffs are just getting started after landing 5-star Carrolton QB Julian Lewis's commitment.
"Lewis is expected to be the start of a train of commits and flips over the next few weeks from highly touted prospects," Wetzel wrote. The next might be Carde Smith, a massive four-star offensive lineman from Alabama, who decommitted from USC earlier this week. Then all recruiting eyes are on the half-dozen prospects — including Ohio State and Alabama verbals — who visited Boulder last weekend from Florida’s IMG Academy.
"The talent that Colorado can get is particularly notable in the context of the Big 12, which doesn’t have big, traditional recruiting brands … but does have an automatic bid to the playoff. It’s a pretty good situation."
Lewis will enroll at CU after he graduates in December. There will be some overlap between Lewis and his predecessor, Shedeur Sanders, if the Buffs are still in the College Football Playoff in January.
Even if there's not, though, Lewis will be assuming the mantle as the franchise player in Boulder after Shedeur takes his final snap at CU. Like any top-ranked QB recruit, Lewis will have a number of prospects sign on the dotted line for Coach Prime to join him.
Carde Smith is the next big name who will join Lewis and "Prime Time." And he won't be the last
