Most people thought Deion Sanders’ potential to go to Dallas was slim to none, but few predicted the extent to which Jerry Jones would manufacture media hype for his struggling franchise.

In a recent interview, Jones shed some light on his previous conversation with Deion Sanders, stating that was nothing more than “just a conversation about the team, and about where he is, and his boys, conversation with his boys, that type of conversation."

He went on to say that “I’ve said I’ve talked to a lot of coaches, and Deion has a job."

Amidst the chaos of the Dallas situation, the people are not happy. Stephen A. Smith, in a recent episode of First Take, stated that Jerry Jones has “taken the fun out of it all” for Cowboys fans.

“The Dallas Cowboys’ fanbase,” Smith said. “You hear how quiet they are right now?”

The Cowboys made headlines with their hiring of Brian Schottenheimer, though many believe that this move was simply a way for Jones to exercise more control over his team.

“Jerry Jones hired Brian Schottenheimer as Cowboys head coach so he could push him around,” a user on X stated. “Jerry wants to actually push the buttons, we all know this.”

Whatever the reason for the Cowboys’ hiring of Schottenheimer over Sanders, one thing is clear: Jerry Jones wasted the time of the media, the fans, and his staff to create hype for his failing team.

It will be a footnote on this offseason for the NFL, but it may be destructive in Boulder.
