Madden ratings are a lot more serious business than they were years ago. Now, there are official "Madden Ratings adjusters" who travel around to different games and practices to make assessments.

While the whole enterprise is taken a lot more seriously than it used to be, it is still ultimately meaningless in the grand scheme of things. For rookies, it gives an indication of how they are viewed early on, but it is mostly based on draft position. There's not enough practice or tape for any rookies as pros to accurately assess what they should be rated on EA's flagship video game franchise.

On Wednesday, rookie ratings were revealed, and for the former Colorado dynamic duo of Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders, they are exactly where most would expect.

Hunter is the top-rated rookie at an 84 overall. Sanders is the No. 4-ranked rookie QB on Madden, despite being the sixth QB off the board in April's NFL Draft. Sanders is rated as a 67 overall, just one point lower than Jaxson Dart and Tyler Shough, who are tied for second behind Cam Ward, who is just a 72 overall despite being the No. 1 pick in the draft.

Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders have both had good camps so far

It comes as no surprise that Travis Hunter has received rave reviews from Jaguars camp. He's already playing both ways, showing his preternatural conditioning that allows him to not get tired. He's a one-of-one athlete, and he'll make an immediate impact on offense and defense in Jacksonville.

The Jaguars will express caution with the No. 2 overall pick to not burn him out too quickly, but Hunter is so good that he's going to force their hands.

As for Shedeur Sanders, he continues to impress with live reps for the Browns. With Kenny Pickett dealing with a hamstring injury, more reps are available for the Colorado rookie, and so far, he's taking full advantage of the extra reps.

Sanders is stacking good practices in Cleveland, and with just nine days left until the Browns open preseason on the road against the Panthers, he should be in line for quite a bit of playing time. The preseason is where Sanders can make his move in Cleveland's four-way QB competition.
