Julian "Ju Ju" Lewis keeps stacking accolades like he stacks touchdowns. The Colorado true freshman was just named High School Quarterback of the Year by the National Quarterback Club, capping off an electric senior season at Carrollton High School in Georgia.
Lewis, never one to shy away from acknowledging the people who’ve helped him along the way, shared his gratitude on social media.
Honored to be recognized as HS QB of the Year and thankful for everyone who has been a part of my journey so far. #TrustGod #KeepWorking pic.twitter.com/JoYwxZibFu

This honor adds to an already loaded trophy case for Lewis, who was also named Gatorade Georgia Player of the Year in December. It’s a testament to the caliber of player Colorado is getting — a quarterback with not only elite talent but the mindset to lead from day one.
A Battle for QB1 in Boulder
When Lewis flipped his commitment from USC to Colorado last November, many fans saw him as the natural heir to Shedeur Sanders. But the road to QB1 in Boulder won’t be handed to him. The Buffs brought in Kaidon Salter through the transfer portal, adding an experienced playmaker to the mix.
For Lewis, though, competition is fuel. When he announced his flip to Colorado on The Pat McAfee Show, he made it clear he was ready to fight for his spot.
“It’s big for me, just coming in after Shedeur, seeing what he’s done at Colorado and what he’s turned it into,” Lewis said. “It’s definitely a blessing to get to this position, coming in after him with his dad.”
His father, TC Lewis, echoed that sentiment, highlighting his son’s relentless work ethic.
Regardless of who wins the starting job in 2025, the Buffaloes are in a great position. Lewis brings star potential and long-term upside, while Salter offers immediate experience and leadership.
Buffs fans should be excited. Whether Lewis takes the reins in Week 1 or patiently waits his turn, we are ecstatic about Colorado's future.
